Theatre JM presents Thoroughly Modern Millie as its 2009 spring musical performance. Based on the 1960s movie of the same name, with music by Jeanine Tesori, tells the story of a young, "modern", woman who moves from Salina, Kansas to New York City.

Laurie Cassman has directed three productions at John Marshall. In addition to directing the plays, she teaches American Studies and ninth grade English. Before taking on directing responsibilities at JM, Laurie worked as a director at Jamestown Middle School and Ulen-Hitterdal High School. She attended Bismarck State College on a Presidential drama scholarship and received her degree in English from the University of Minnesota, Moorhead and a Masters in Education from Winona State University. Her favorite show of all time is Alan Ayckbourns Absurd Person Singular.
Mr. Jarvis is in his eighth year as Director of Bands at John Marshall High School and has assisted in recruiting and preparing the members of the musical pit orchestra each year since coming to JM. His background in musical theater includes serving as music director for the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Kerrville, Texas, for two summers during college, as well as music director as past band instructor positions. He has also performed French horn with Oklahoma!, Damn Yankees, and Camelot.
Previous John Marshall productions include Oklahoma!, Disney's High School Musical and Rags.
Ms. Fuehrer trained at Minnesota Dance Theatre. She has choreographed more than 35 plays and has acted in more than 200 productions, including videos and commercials. "Every rehearsal with this talented cast and crew reminds me why I’m in theatre."
Paul's support for the theater dates back to building sets for The Sound of Music when he was in high school. As John Marshall Activities Director, Paul has been instrumental in over two dozen theatrical productions. He currently serves as the Section IAA Visual Arts Coordinator and developed the Visual Arts Comptetition.
