This masterpiece by the "Father of Modern Drama", Henrik Ibsen, will be presented in the round, with actors and audience sharing the Ilstrup Auditorium stage together, offering an intense and intimate connection for participants.
The story revolves around Dr. Stockman and his quest to proclaim Truth to the disapproval, admonition, and anger of the community. To what extent will he sacrifice himself and those he loves to serve this nobler purpose?
The cast of 15 will explore these ideas in a contemporary setting while discovering the demands and joys of acting without walls. Eric Decker will direct and is pleased to celebrate the return of Jeff Swegarden as scenic designer.

Eric is now in his seventh season at JM after directing Oklahoma! here last spring, while also teaching AP English and Speech. He has directed more than forty shows in the area for theatres as varied as the Rochester Civic Theatre (Mainstage and STI), Masque Youth Theatre, Mantorville Theatre Company, K-M High School, Rushford Area Society for the Arts, Lanesboro Community Theater, and also a staged reading at The Commonweal and mentor-directing at the Rochester Repertory Theatre. He received his B.A. in Theatre and Secondary Education from Augustana College (IL), and is currently working on his M.A. in Directing from the Chicago College of Performing Arts.
Jeff is an English and Humanities teacher at John Marshall. He has been involved in theater and speech since high school. He has acted in a variety of plays and has been director and technical director for fifteen productions.
